Have you ever heard, read, or used the word loquacious? Do you know what this word means? ❓❓❓
Loquacious is an adjective that is uncommonly used, especially amongst the youth. This word sounds very unique and complex despite its simple meaning.
So, what does this word actually mean?
According to Oxford Dictionary, the definition of loquacious is:
“talking a lot.”
Loquacious is an adjective that is generally used to describe someone who tends to talk a great deal; talkative. Loquacious can also be used to describe someone who talks easily and fluently. 💬💬💬
As stated by Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the synonyms of loquacious are blabby, chatty, conversational, gabby, garrulous, motormouthed, mouthy, talkative, and talky. The antonyms of loquacious are close-mouthed, laconic, reserved, reticent, taciturn, tight-lipped, and uncommunicative.
Loquacious almost always holds a negative connotation, thus making it a more precise word than talkative. A loquacious person is someone who is constantly speaking, often an incessant amount. A loquacious speech, on the other hand, would imply the speech is unnecessarily verbose. ❌❌❌
You can check out some examples of sentences using the word loquacious to understand the word more!
